Description
Cold-smoked salmon slices are delicate, silky pieces with an intense, slightly salty and smoky aroma, and a deep pink-orange color, often with visible marbling of fat that gives it a velvety texture. It is an excellent source of high-quality protein and omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), as well as vitamins D and B12 and selenium; regular consumption supports heart health, cognitive functions, and has anti-inflammatory effects, also providing a longer feeling of fullness. In the kitchen, salmon slices are great for sandwiches and baguettes, salads, spreads and creams, eggs, pasta, or as a decoration for carpaccio and sushi, pairing well with lemon, dill, capers, and soft cheeses. They should be stored in the refrigerator at a temperature of 0–4°C, preferably in the original vacuum packaging; once opened, consume within 2–3 days. They can be frozen, but freezing slightly changes the texture.
