Whole wheat flour
Description
Whole wheat flour has a warm, nutty flavor and visible small fragments of bran, giving it a creamy-brown color and a more grainy texture than white flour. It contains the whole wheat grain, which provides more fiber, plant protein, B vitamins, magnesium, iron, and antioxidants; regular consumption can improve digestion, increase feelings of fullness, and support lipid profiles and glucose management in a balanced diet. In the kitchen, whole grain flour is great for bread, rolls, omelets, pancakes, muffins, crepes, pizza, and as part of cake mixes and thickening dishes; it is worth combining it with white flour for a lighter structure. Store in a dry, cool place in an airtight container, away from odors; refrigerating or freezing extends shelf life and protects against moths.
