Mussels, fresh, cleaned
Description
Mussels, fresh, cleaned, have a delicate, slightly salty taste with a hint of ocean freshness and a meaty, velvety texture; the shells reveal a creamy-beige tissue with a shiny surface. They are a rich source of high-quality protein with low fat content, providing omega-3 fatty acids as well as valuable minerals and vitamins, including iron, zinc, selenium, and vitamin B12, which support the circulatory system, immunity, and energy metabolism. Culinary applications are versatile: they are excellent steamed with wine, in soups, creams, risottos, paellas, pasta, and grilled as an appetizer. They should be stored chilled (0–4°C) in a ventilated container or on ice, not submerged in water, and consumed within 24–48 hours or frozen for longer storage; before cooking, check that the shells close.
