Brown rice

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Brown rice has a slightly nutty, chewy flavor and a characteristic golden-brown color, as it retains the bran and germ layer. The grains can be long or short depending on the variety, and when cooked, they remain fluffy yet full of structure, adding depth to dishes. It pairs well as a side for Asian dishes, pilafs, vegetable salads, fish and poultry dishes, and as a base for curries or sweet puddings, being a healthier alternative to white rice. As a whole grain, it is rich in fiber, B vitamins, and minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, and iron. It has a lower glycemic index and about 110 kcal per 100 g of cooked product, which supports digestion, a feeling of fullness, and blood sugar control. It should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, and for extended shelf life, it can be kept in the refrigerator or freezer.
