Dijon mustard
Description
Dijon mustard is a smooth, creamy sauce with a light straw to golden color and a distinctly sharp, tangy flavor with a subtle, wine-like note – traditionally made from brown mustard seeds and white wine or verjus, which gives a clean, intense aroma without large graininess. It works well as an elegant addition to sandwiches, sauces, vinaigrettes, marinades, and glazes for meats, as well as in classic preparations like salad dressings, egg dishes, or dishes with cold cuts. Nutritionally, Dijon is a low-calorie, low-fat condiment that provides small amounts of minerals (including selenium, magnesium) and plant compounds with anti-inflammatory properties; thus, it allows you to add flavor without significantly increasing calories, although it is worth monitoring the sodium content in ready-made products. Before opening, it should be stored in a cool, dry place; after opening, it is best kept in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed jar, where it will maintain freshness for several months.
