Walnut halves
Description
Walnut halves are golden-brown, irregular pieces with a characteristic slightly bitter and buttery flavor with earthy notes; their crunchiness and attractive shape make them a stunning addition both visually and in taste. From a nutritional standpoint, they are rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, especially alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3), protein, fiber, vitamin E, B vitamins, and minerals such as magnesium and phosphorus, as well as antioxidants that support heart and brain health and have anti-inflammatory effects. In the kitchen, walnut halves are great in salads, desserts, baked goods, muesli, pesto, and cheese boards, where they add texture and aroma. To maintain freshness and aroma, store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place; they will last several months in the refrigerator and up to 6–12 months in the freezer, away from strong odors and light.
