Pickled red pepper
Description
Marinated red pepper has an intense, sweet-and-sour flavor with a subtle smoky or grilled note if it has been roasted beforehand, along with a soft, juicy texture and a shiny, deep red color that adds visual appeal to dishes. It is low in calories, rich in vitamin C and provitamin A (beta-carotene), and contains fiber, potassium, and antioxidants that support immunity, eye health, and the circulatory system, although it is worth noting the salt content from the brine. It pairs well with cheeses, cold cuts, fish, poultry, pasta, salads, and sandwiches, serving as antipasti, a side for tapas, an ingredient in sauces and spreads; it enhances the flavor of both simple and sophisticated dishes. Store in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed jar, preferably in the brine, using clean utensils; once opened, consume within 1–2 weeks, freezing is possible but alters the texture.
