Pomegranate seeds
Description
Pomegranate seeds are juicy, ruby-red arils with an intense sweet-tart flavor and a crunchy seed inside. They attract with their shiny, translucent color and pleasant, refreshing aroma that adds freshness and color to dishes. They are rich in vitamin C, vitamin K, folate, potassium, and fiber, as well as powerful antioxidants such as punicalagins and ellagic acid, which support cardiovascular health and have anti-inflammatory effects. Seeds can help lower blood pressure and improve lipid profiles with regular, moderate consumption. In the kitchen, they work great as an addition to salads, yogurts, and desserts, as ingredients in salsas, marinades, and glazes for meats, as well as in smoothies and grains. Store whole fruits in the refrigerator for up to a few weeks, and pitted arils in an airtight container for 5–7 days or freeze them spread out on a baking sheet for several months.
