Brown mushrooms
Description
Brown mushrooms are a variety with a slightly nutty, more intense flavor than white mushrooms, featuring a meaty cap that ranges from light brown to dark brown and a firm structure that holds its shape well during cooking. They are low in calories, contain protein, fiber, B vitamins, potassium, and antioxidants such as selenium and phenolic compounds, which support the immune system, metabolism, and heart health. In the kitchen, brown mushrooms are great for frying, grilling, stewing, as an addition to soups, sauces, risottos, pizzas, omelets, or fillings, enriching dishes with aroma and texture. They should be stored in the refrigerator in a paper bag or loosely wrapped, without washing before storage, and used within 4–7 days; they can also be prepped and frozen.
