Wheat tortilla pancakes
Description
Wheat flour tortillas are thin, flexible flatbreads with a delicate, slightly sweet flavor and a light beige color, featuring a subtle, crispy edge when heated. They have a smooth surface and a soft texture that absorbs the flavors of fillings well. Nutritionally, they primarily provide carbohydrates as a quick source of energy, contain a moderate amount of protein, and small amounts of fat; whole grain versions offer more fiber, B vitamins, and iron, and commonly found tortillas are often fortified with calcium. They are filling and practical when portion-controlled and when choosing healthier toppings. In the kitchen, wheat flatbreads work well as a base for wraps, burritos, quesadillas, tacos, quick pizzas, or casseroles, as well as for cold and hot rolls. It is best to store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place; once opened, it is advisable to keep them in the refrigerator to extend freshness. For longer storage, they can be frozen, thawing at room temperature or briefly heating before serving.
