Roasted pumpkin seeds
Description
Roasted pumpkin seeds have a pleasantly nutty, slightly smoky flavor and a crunchy texture, and their green-brown color deepens and gains an appetizing sheen after roasting. They are rich in plant protein, unsaturated fatty acids, fiber, and minerals such as magnesium, zinc, and iron, as well as B vitamins and antioxidants; regular, moderate consumption may support heart health, the immune system, proper sugar metabolism, and benefits for bones and sleep due to their tryptophan content. In the kitchen, they work well as a standalone snack, a topping for salads, soups, and yogurts, an ingredient in muesli, bread, pesto, or Mexican salsas, adding crunch and depth of flavor. They should be stored tightly in a dry, cool place away from light; for longer freshness, it's best to keep them in the fridge or freezer and use them within a few weeks.
