Red rice
Description
Red rice has a distinct, nutty flavor and a slightly earthy aroma, along with characteristic mahogany, semi-transparent grains with a thin layer of bran that remain chewy and slightly grainy after cooking. It looks decorative on the plate, giving dishes a deep color and texture. As a whole grain product, it is rich in fiber, complex carbohydrates, plant protein, and minerals such as manganese, iron, and magnesium, as well as antioxidants (anthocyanins), which support digestion, stabilize glucose levels, and promote cardiovascular health. It works well as a base for salads, an addition to one-pot dishes, pilafs, stir-fries, and dishes with stronger sauces, as well as an ingredient in bowls with vegetables and protein. It should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place; due to the oil content, whole grains are better kept in the refrigerator or freezer for longer to avoid rancidity.
