Sharp cheddar cheese

🌱 Vegetarian

Description

Grated cheddar cheese (sharp) has a strong, slightly nutty and spicy flavor that depends on the degree of aging, as well as a creamy, well-melting consistency; in grated form, it appears in narrow, easy-to-spread shreds ranging from creamy to intensely orange in color. Nutritionally, it is a good source of protein, calcium, phosphorus, and vitamins A and B12, which support bone health and muscle recovery, but it also contains a significant amount of saturated fats and sodium, so it should be consumed in moderation. Grated cheddar is perfect for casseroles, pasta (e.g., mac and cheese), tacos, pizza, sandwiches, and sauces due to its quick melting and intense aroma. It should be stored in the refrigerator, tightly wrapped in foil or a container, and used within a few days after opening; it can also be frozen for up to 2–3 months, keeping in mind the possible change in texture.
