Cream cheese
Description
Cream cheese is a delicate, smooth cheese with a light pearl color and velvety texture, featuring a mild, slightly tangy flavor with a buttery background, easily spreadable on bread. Its universal flavor profile makes it a good match for both sweet and savory products. Nutritionally, cream cheese provides energy mainly from fat, contains a moderate amount of protein, and minerals, including calcium and vitamin A; in full-fat versions, one should be aware of the higher content of saturated fats and salt, so it is advisable to use it in moderation or choose light versions. In the kitchen, it is used as a spread for bread, a base for cheesecakes, creams, and glazes, an ingredient in sauces, dips, and fillings for baked dishes and pasta. It should be stored in a cool place, in the refrigerator in its original packaging or an airtight container; once opened, it is best consumed within 7–10 days, freezing is possible but may change its texture.
