Cream cheese (cottage cheese, e.g. Philadelphia type)
Description
Cream cheese (cottage cheese, e.g. Philadelphia type) has a smooth, creamy texture and a light cream color, with a delicate, slightly tangy taste and a distinct richness that adds to its velvety quality. It is easy to spread and pairs well with other flavors. Nutritionally, it is a source of protein and calcium as well as fat-soluble vitamins (including A), but it also contains a significant amount of saturated fats and calories, so it should be used in moderation. It is filling and enhances dishes with texture and flavorful fats. In the kitchen, it is used on sandwiches, in dips and spreads, in sauces, desserts (cheesecakes, creams), and as a filling ingredient. Store in the refrigerator at a temperature of 2–7°C, in its original, airtight packaging; consume within a few days after opening. Avoid prolonged freezing, as it loses its creaminess.
