Mixed fruits (strawberries/blueberries)
Description
Mixed fruits (strawberries/blueberries) combine the sweet-tart, juicy flavor of strawberries with the mildly sweet, slightly earthy aroma of blueberries; visually, they create an attractive combination of red and purple/blue, often with a shine and small seeds from the strawberries. They are low in calories, rich in vitamin C, fiber, antioxidants (flavonoids and anthocyanins), manganese, and small amounts of folic acid and potassium, which support immunity, vascular health, cognitive functions, as well as blood sugar regulation and digestion. Culinarily, they work great in smoothies, muesli, fruit salads, desserts, pancakes, cakes, jams, and sauces for meats or cheeses, adding freshness and color. Store in the refrigerator in a dry, ventilated container, wash just before consumption, and remove spoiled fruits; strawberries are best consumed within 2–3 days, while blueberries stay fresh for about a week. They can be frozen individually on a baking sheet and then transferred to bags.
