Coarse rock salt
Description
Coarse rock salt has a distinct, clean salty taste and characteristic transparent-white or slightly gray crystals with a coarse grain that add texture to dishes and make dosing easier. Its composition is primarily sodium chloride, with small traces of minerals such as magnesium, calcium, or potassium; it can also be iodized if the producer has added iodine. From a health perspective, salt provides essential sodium for electrolyte balance, but excessive amounts can promote water retention and increase blood pressure, so moderate use is recommended. In the kitchen, it is suitable for seasoning meat before roasting, curing, preparing brines and pickles, creating salt crusts, or grinding in mills and sprinkling on dishes just before serving. It should be stored in a dry, airtight container away from moisture and sources of odors, at room temperature, to maintain its structure and prevent clumping.
