Dried linden flowers
Description
Dried linden flowers have a delicate, sweet-floral aroma with a hint of honey and a subtle bitterness, resembling small, crumbled clusters of light yellow and greenish petals. When brewed, they release a velvety, slightly sticky infusion with a pleasant scent that soothes the senses. In terms of composition, they contain flavonoids, essential oils, trace amounts of vitamin C, and mucilage compounds, which give them anti-inflammatory properties, relieve cough, and relax nervous tension; they are valued as an ingredient in infusions that support sleep and digestion. In the kitchen, they are primarily used for infusions, syrups, liqueurs, desserts, and simple syrups for cocktails, where they pair nicely with honey, lemon, and delicate herbs. They should be stored in a sealed, opaque container in a dry, cool place away from moisture; best used within 12–24 months to retain their aroma.
