Fresh mint (for decoration)
Description
Fresh mint is an aromatic herb with an intense, refreshing flavor featuring a distinct hint of menthol and a fresh, green scent; the leaves range from light to dark green, often slightly hairy, forming striking clumps that are perfect for decoration and enhancing dishes. From a nutritional standpoint, mint provides small amounts of vitamins A and C, minerals, as well as phenolic compounds and essential oils (menthol), which exhibit antioxidant properties, soothe digestive issues, and generally support the respiratory system. In the kitchen, mint pairs excellently with desserts, beverages, salads, lamb dishes, and fresh sauces, adding freshness and flavor contrast. To maintain freshness, store sprigs in the refrigerator wrapped in a damp paper towel or standing in a glass of water loosely covered with plastic wrap; you can also freeze the leaves in ice cubes with water or oil.
