Description
Fresh mint leaves have an intense, cooling aroma and a distinct menthol flavor that refreshes the palate. They appear delicate, ranging from light to dark green, usually with fine hairs on the underside and prominent veins, making them great as a garnish or an ingredient that adds flavor to dishes and drinks. Mint provides a small amount of calories, vitamin A, B vitamins, and minerals such as iron and calcium, as well as polyphenols and essential oils with anti-inflammatory and digestive-supporting properties. In the kitchen, it pairs well with drinks (teas, cocktails, mojitos), salads, yogurt sauces, lamb dishes, couscous, tabbouleh, desserts, and chocolate, adding freshness and flavor contrast. To preserve the aroma, store the leaves in the refrigerator wrapped in a damp paper towel in a container or placed with the stems in a glass of water and loosely covered with plastic wrap; you can also freeze chopped mint in ice cubes with water or oil.
