Description

Fresh spinach consists of delicate, light to dark green leaves with a smooth or slightly wrinkled surface and a soft texture; the flavor is mild, somewhat earthy with a subtle bitterness in older leaves, while young leaves have a pleasantly fresh, almost sweet note. Its appearance and aroma add lightness and color to dishes. Nutritionally, spinach is low in calories and rich in vitamins A, C, and K, folic acid, iron, magnesium, and fiber, as well as antioxidants (lutein, zeaxanthin). It supports eye, bone, blood, and cardiovascular health. In the kitchen, it works well in salads, smoothies, soups, casseroles, pasta, and as an addition to omelets or meat dishes. To store spinach longer, keep it in the refrigerator in a perforated bag or container with a paper towel, do not wash before storing, and use within 3–5 days; it can also be blanched and frozen.
