Penne pasta
Description
Penne pasta is a cylindrical pasta with diagonally cut ends, available in smooth and ridged (rigate) versions. It has a neutral, slightly wheaty flavor that absorbs sauces and the aromas of other ingredients well, making it a versatile component in many dishes. Its shape and texture allow it to hold both thick tomato and cream sauces, as well as pesto, and it is also suitable for casseroles and pasta salads. The semolina version made from durum wheat primarily provides complex carbohydrates, a moderate amount of protein, a small amount of fat, and — in the whole grain variant — valuable fiber, B vitamins, and minerals. As a base for a balanced meal, it supports energy and satiety; by choosing whole grain penne and controlling portions, we increase health benefits. Store the dry package in a dry, cool place in an airtight container; keep cooked pasta in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days or freeze for about 2 months.
