Description

Refreshing green smoothie is an elegant and healthy snack for New Year's Eve 2025 — served in tall, slender glasses, it will create a stunning presentation for the party. The smoothie combines the sweetness of ripe bananas and apples with the creaminess of avocado, the freshness of cucumber and mint, and a delicate hint of yogurt, resulting in a smooth, creamy texture and vibrant green color. Perfect as a light starter before dinner or as a refreshing drink between toasts. Serve chilled, accompanied by a thin lime peel and a mint leaf for aromatic and aesthetic contrast — exceptionally visually striking and easy to prepare.

Preparation steps

Ingredient Preparation

1

Prepare all the ingredients and tools: a blender with a capacity of at least 1.5–2 l, a cutting board, a sharp knife, a peeler, a kitchen scale, a measuring cup. Wash the spinach and mint under cold water, dry in a salad spinner or gently pat dry with paper towels. Wash the cucumber and apples. Peel the bananas and avocado: cut the avocado in half with a knife, twist the halves, remove the pit – by hitting it with the blade and gently taking it out. Slice the bananas and avocado, cut the cucumber in half lengthwise and remove the hard seeds with a spoon if there are any; cut the apple into quarters, remove the core and cut into smaller pieces. Squeeze the lime juice into a small bowl.

Ingredients: Banana, Fresh spinach, Avocado, Cucumber, Green apple, Fresh lime juice, Fresh mint
Use a kitchen scale to measure exact amounts. For peeling the avocado and apple, it's best to use a sharp knife and a vegetable peeler. If you don't have a salad spinner, dry the leaves with a paper towel — excess water will dilute the smoothie.

Blending

2

Arrange the ingredients in the blender jar in the following order: first the liquids (200 ml of water/ice cubes and lime juice), then yogurt, soft fruits (banana, avocado), spinach leaves and mint, and finally the harder pieces (apple, cucumber). Close the blender and blend first on low speed for 10–15 seconds (to break up the larger pieces), then increase to medium and blend for another 30–45 seconds until the mixture is evenly creamy and free of visible chunks. If you are using ice cubes, you can pulse blend 2–3 times, then blend continuously for 30–45 seconds. The consistency should be smooth and slightly runny — not chunky.

Ingredients: Water / ice cubes, Fresh lime juice, Natural yogurt (2%), Banana, Avocado, Fresh spinach, Green apple, Cucumber, Fresh mint
Use a countertop blender with a power of at least 800–1000 W for a smooth consistency. If you have an immersion blender with a container, blend for a shorter time and check the texture. Do not overload the blender — if the blade starts to struggle, stop blending and stir the ingredients with a wooden spoon.

Adjusting flavor and consistency

3

Try the smoothie with a spoon — assess the sweetness and thickness. If it's too thick, add 30 ml of water and blend again for 5–10 seconds; if it's too thin, add 1–2 tablespoons (15–30 g) of yogurt or 1 tablespoon (about 12 g) of chia seeds and let it sit for 5 minutes to swell (note: chia seeds will change the texture). If you need a sweeter note, add honey (optional) by the tablespoon (60 g = 4 tablespoons) and blend briefly. For a more intense aroma, add 2–3 mint leaves and blend for 3–5 seconds.

Ingredients: Natural yogurt (2%), Honey, Chia seeds, Water / ice cubes, Fresh mint
Add water and sweetener gradually — it's easier to thin out than to thicken. If you're using chia seeds and plan to serve immediately, start with a small amount first, as they swell and quickly change the consistency.

Cooling and preparation for serving

4

If you are preparing a smoothie before a gathering, chill it in the refrigerator in a closed pitcher until serving (for a maximum of 6 hours). 10–15 minutes before serving, place the tall glasses in the refrigerator or for a short moment in the freezer (no longer than 10 minutes, so they don't freeze) — the cold glass will enhance the freshness of the drink.

Ingredients: Water / ice cubes
Do not store the smoothie for longer than 24 hours — fresh juices lose vitamins and change color. Before chilling in the freezer, set a timer so you don't forget the glasses and prevent the glass from breaking.

Serving and decoration

5

Pour the smoothie into tall, slender glasses, about 180–250 ml each. Use a ladle or large spoon to pour slowly and avoid frothing the surface. Decorate: place mint leaves on top, finely grate lime zest over each serving, or place a slice of lime on the rim of the glass. Optionally, sprinkle with a bit of chia seeds (first soak them in a small amount of water for 5 minutes if you don't want a dry topping). Serve immediately for vibrant color and minimal foam.

Ingredients: Fresh mint, Fresh lime juice, Chia seeds
For decoration, use 1–2 mint leaves per glass. If you are serving guests, keep the glasses chilled and pour just before serving.

Final tips

6

If you plan to serve the smoothie as part of a New Year's Eve buffet, prepare a pitcher of the drink and small labels with information about the ingredients (important for allergies). Make an additional pitcher in a dairy-free version (with plant-based yogurt) for vegan guests. Extend the freshness of the colors by adding a bit of lemon or lime juice — the acid stabilizes the green color.

Ingredients: Fresh lime juice
Labeling the ingredients is a simple courtesy for guests. For better presentation, use a transparent pitcher with a measuring scale on the side — guests will see the vibrant color and will be more inclined to help themselves to a serving.

Fun Fact

💡

Green smoothies have become popular as a quick source of vitamins and fiber in 'green smoothie' diets since the early 21st century; their intense green color mainly comes from the chlorophyll in the leaves of green vegetables.

Tips

🍽️ Serving

Serve in tall, narrow glasses (slender) with a capacity of 200–300 ml, chilled before serving. Garnish with a mint leaf, a slice of lime, and optionally a thin strip of lime zest. For an elegant effect, use metal or bamboo stirrers.

🥡 Storage

Store in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Best flavor and most intense color within the first 6–8 hours. Do not freeze the entire smoothie — thawed will change its consistency. If a layer of water separates, stir vigorously or blend briefly before serving.
