Description
Elderflower syrup has an intense floral-honey aroma with a delicate citrus note and a slightly nutmeg undertone; visually, it is clear, ranging from light golden to amber, with a thick, sticky-sweet consistency. As a primarily sugary product, it provides energy but retains some phenolic compounds and flavonoids from the flowers, which exhibit antioxidant properties and traditionally help with mild upper respiratory ailments; however, it should be consumed in moderation due to its high sugar content. In the kitchen, the syrup pairs wonderfully with sparkling water and teas, as an addition to cocktails, desserts, yogurts, or dressings, enhancing fresh and fruity compositions. It should be stored in a cool, dark place before opening; after opening, it should be kept in the refrigerator and used within a few weeks, and it can also be portioned and frozen.
