Description

Champagne or sparkling wine (dry or semi-dry) is a clear, golden-straw or slightly pink beverage with fine, lasting bubbles; its flavor is dominated by fresh acidity, notes of apple, citrus, and yeasty-bready aromas, with a delicate sweetness noticeable in semi-dry varieties. It usually has an alcohol content of 11–13% and a moderate caloric value, providing small amounts of minerals and polyphenols. In moderate amounts, it may support the circulatory system due to antioxidants, but it contains alcohol and calories, so benefits occur only with reasonable consumption. In the kitchen, it works well as an aperitif, with seafood, sushi, delicate fish, and cheeses, for deglazing pans, in reduction sauces, as well as in desserts and cocktails, where it adds lightness and acidity. Store in a cool, dark place at a constant temperature (about 8–12°C), protect from vibrations and light; chill before serving to 6–10°C. After opening, seal with a stopper and consume within 1–3 days to maintain the bubbles.
