Unsweetened coconut flakes
Description
Unsweetened coconut flakes have a delicate, naturally sweet and slightly nutty flavor, as well as a white, fibrous appearance with a dry, slightly crunchy texture that easily absorbs moisture and aromas. They are a source of fats (including medium-chain fatty acids), fiber, and a moderate amount of protein, as well as minerals such as manganese, copper, magnesium, and iron, along with small amounts of B vitamins and antioxidants, which support digestion, metabolism, and provide concentrated energy. In the kitchen, flakes are suitable for baking, granola, muesli, smoothies, desserts, puddings, and as a crunchy topping for salads or Asian dishes; they can also be used for breading or making coconut milk. They should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from light; in the refrigerator or freezer, they will stay fresh much longer.
