Rose water
Description
Rose water is a clear, slightly oily liquid with a subtle floral aroma and a mildly sweet taste that adds a touch of elegance to dishes without overpowering them. Nutritionally, it is practically water, low in calories and almost devoid of macronutrients, but it contains trace amounts of phenolic compounds and antioxidants. Traditionally, it is attributed with soothing, anti-inflammatory properties and aids digestion and relaxation when used in moderation. In the kitchen, it works well in desserts, syrups, beverages, cake mixes, puddings, ice creams, and refreshing drinks, as well as a delicate complement to dishes from Middle Eastern and North Indian cuisine. It should be stored in a tightly sealed bottle, preferably glass, in a cool, dark place; once opened, it is best kept in the refrigerator and used within a few months to maintain its aroma.
