Take the puff pastry out of the fridge 10–15 minutes beforehand so it is not too hard (it should be chilled but flexible). Preheat the oven to 200°C (without fan) or 180°C (with fan). Prepare a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Description
Halloween snack resembling witch's fingers: pieces of sausage wrapped in thin strips of puff pastry, with an almond as the nail and a 'bloody' dip. The dish combines crispy pastry, juicy sausage, and a pleasantly sweet-spicy dip, creating a striking, slightly grotesque appetizer perfect for a party. Inspiration: simple Polish ingredients and playful shapes — appealing even for those trying puff pastry for the first time. Serve hot on a tray lined with baking paper; pairs well with mustard or ketchup with a hint of hot pepper.

Preparation steps
Preparation of ingredients
Cut the sausage into pieces 6–7 cm long — each piece is one 'finger'. If you are using thicker sausage, cut it in half lengthwise so that the finger is not too bulky. Drain any excess fat with a paper towel.
Shaping the fingers
Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into thin strips about 1.5–2 cm wide. Each strip will be spirally wrapped around a piece of sausage — leave some space at one end to insert an almond.
Wrap each piece of sausage with one strip of dough, starting from the middle and moving towards one end — leave about 1 cm free at the end where you will insert the almond. Wrap loosely, not too tightly, so that the dough can gently expand while baking.
At the tip of each 'finger', press a thin slice of almond so that it looks like a nail — arrange it slightly curved towards the tip. If the almond is too thick, trim it with a knife. Brush the exposed areas of the dough with beaten egg (use a brush).
Baking
Arrange the prepared fingers on a baking sheet, leaving 2–3 cm between them. Very lightly sprinkle the top of each finger with smoked paprika (only on the edges) to achieve a smoky appearance. Bake in a preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, until the pastry is golden and crispy, and the almonds are lightly browned.
Decoration and serving
Remove the fingers from the oven and let them rest for 2–3 minutes so they don't burn. Arrange them on a dark platter. Serve small bowls of mustard and ketchup alongside — you can lightly spread the ketchup on the plate to make it look like 'blood'. Optionally, sprinkle with freshly ground pepper.
Serving and safety
Serve hot or warm. Warn guests that the inside is hot, especially if the sausage has just come out of the oven. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge and reheated in the oven for 5–7 minutes at 180°C to restore the crispiness of the pastry.
Fun Fact
The idea of 'fingers' is an old recipe for party snacks that gained popularity as a Halloween element in the USA, but versions with sausage and puff pastry are popular in Poland as a quick, impressive snack.

Tips
Serve on a dark platter with ketchup spread in the shape of 'blood' splatters. Dips to choose from: spicy mustard, honey mustard, ketchup with a hint of chili pepper. Add fresh herbs on the side (e.g. parsley) for a color contrast.
Store in the refrigerator in a closed container for up to 24 hours. To reheat and restore crispness, bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 5–7 minutes. Reheating in the microwave is not recommended, as the dough will become rubbery.
