Banana (frozen, sliced)
Description
Frozen, sliced banana has a sweet, creamy flavor with a more intense note of ripeness and a delicate texture once thawed; the slices are bright yellow with possible brown spots, and when frozen, they maintain a compact, slightly icy structure. It is rich in fast-releasing carbohydrates, natural sugars, fiber, potassium, vitamin B6, and vitamin C, which supports electrolyte balance, heart function, metabolism, and digestion, while also providing quick energy and helping with feelings of fullness. In the kitchen, frozen bananas are great for smoothies, "nice cream" type ice, protein shakes, baking, pancakes, and sauces, as well as serving as a base for desserts or a nutritious breakfast. Store them in an airtight container or freezer bag with the air removed, labeled with the date; best quality for about 3 months, up to 6 months; use frozen without thawing for smoothies or thaw in the refrigerator before adding to baked goods.
