Sharp cheddar cheese
Description
Grated cheddar cheese is characterized by a strong, slightly nutty and spicy flavor, as well as a creamy texture. In its grated form, it appears as fine, uniform shreds ranging in color from straw yellow to deep orange, depending on aging and coloring agents. It is a rich source of protein and calcium, also providing fats, vitamins A and B12, and phosphorus; when consumed in moderation, it supports tissue regeneration and bone health, although due to its sodium and saturated fat content, portion control is advisable. In the kitchen, grated cheddar works great in casseroles, pasta dishes, tortillas, warm salads, cheese sauces, and sandwiches, adding creaminess and aroma. Store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container or wrapped in foil to prevent it from drying out; it can also be frozen in portions, keeping in mind that the texture may become slightly crumbly after thawing.
