White rum
Description
White rum is a clear, slightly oily alcohol with a fresh, sweet aroma of sugar cane and notes of citrus, white pepper, and subtle vanilla; the taste is usually light, clean, and not overwhelming, with a short, warm-sweet finish. The nutritional values mainly come from ethanol: standard white rum (about 40% ABV) provides around 220–240 kcal per 100 ml, contains virtually no proteins, fats, or significant vitamins and minerals, so health benefits are limited and depend on moderate consumption — excessive drinking is harmful, and rum is not a source of nutrients. Culinarily, white rum pairs well with cocktails (mojito, daiquiri, piña colada), desserts, marinades, sauces, and flambéing, adding a sweet-spicy depth, especially in Caribbean cuisine. It should be stored in a tightly sealed bottle, in a cool, dark place away from heat sources; once opened, it retains its flavor for a long time, but it's best to avoid prolonged exposure to air.
