Fresh blueberries
Description
Fresh blueberries have an intensely sweet-tart, slightly floral flavor and a firm, juicy texture. They have a round shape, dark blue skin with a characteristic waxy bloom, and small seeds inside, making them visually appealing and enjoyable to eat. They are low in calories, rich in fiber, vitamins C and K, manganese, and strong antioxidants—primarily anthocyanins, which support heart health, cognitive functions, immunity, and have anti-inflammatory effects. In the kitchen, blueberries are suitable for desserts, cakes, and muffins, smoothies, yogurts, muesli, and salads, as well as for sauces for meats or cheeses. They should be stored in the refrigerator in a breathable container, without washing them before storage, and removing any individual damaged fruits; fresh ones are best consumed within 5–10 days. For longer storage, it's advisable to freeze them on a tray and then transfer them to bags.
