Dried chili (flakes or powdered)
Description
Dried chili in the form of flakes or powder has an intense, warm heat with fruity and smoky notes, ranging in color from bright red to brown, and a texture from crunchy flakes to fine powder. Its flavor can add depth and a spicy finish to dishes, with heat that can be easily dosed. Nutritionally, chili is low in calories, contains capsaicin, which may support metabolism and have anti-inflammatory properties, as well as antioxidants and vitamins C and A. Typical uses include seasoning soups, sauces, meats, marinades, Mexican and Asian dishes, pizza, or egg dishes, where flakes or powder add aroma and color. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark, and dry place, away from moisture and light; best used within 6–12 months to maintain aroma.
