White sugar (optional — for syrup 1:1)
Description
White sugar is a fine, crystalline sucrose with a neutral sweet taste and a shiny white appearance, easily soluble in water; it is often used to prepare a 1:1 syrup (ratio of sugar to water) as a base for drinks, glazes, and preservation. In the kitchen, it works well in baking, caramelizing, sweetening beverages, making jams and marinades, and balancing acidity and texture in dishes. Nutritionally, it mainly provides energy: about 387–400 kcal per 100 g (1 teaspoon ≈ 16 kcal), virtually entirely in the form of carbohydrates, with no protein, fat, or significant vitamins and minerals. It can quickly replenish glucose during exertion, but consumption should be moderate due to the risk of tooth decay and metabolic disorders. Store in an airtight container in a dry, cool place, away from strong odors and moisture, which prevents clumping and loss of quality.
