Powdered sugar (for the cake)
Description
Powdered sugar is very finely ground white sugar with a silky, powdery texture and a distinctly sweet, neutral flavor. Its delicate structure allows it to dissolve easily on the tongue and creates smooth, aesthetic toppings on cakes, cookies, and confectionery decorations. Nutritionally, powdered sugar is almost entirely simple sugar carbohydrates — it provides quick energy but contains no significant vitamins or minerals, so it should be used in moderation. It is most commonly used for dusting baked goods, preparing icings, creams, and meringues, and sweetening delicate mixtures where regular sugar would be too grainy. Store in an airtight container in a dry, cool place, away from moisture, to avoid clumping; if necessary, a small amount of starch can be added as an anti-caking agent.
