Cherry
Description
Cherry is a small, juicy fruit with a shiny, red to deep burgundy skin and firm, sweet-tart flesh, often with a delicate almond aroma. It is a source of vitamin C, B vitamins, vitamins A and K, potassium, fiber, and powerful antioxidants, primarily anthocyanins, which support the circulatory system, have anti-inflammatory properties, and may aid in muscle recovery and improve sleep quality due to its natural melatonin content. In the kitchen, cherries are perfect for desserts, baked goods, salads, meat sauces, and jams, as well as for cocktails and liqueurs, pairing wonderfully with chocolate, almonds, cheeses, and red meat. Store them unwashed in the refrigerator in a breathable container, preferably with stems, and consume within a few days; for longer storage, remove the pits and freeze.
