Brewed espresso
Description
Espresso brewed is an intense, concentrated brew with a dark brown color and a characteristic creamy foam (crema) on top, with an aroma of roasted coffee, hints of bitter chocolate and caramel; the taste is full, slightly bitter, and rich in extracts from the beans. Nutritionally, the brew provides few calories and almost zero fats or proteins, but it is a source of caffeine and antioxidants (chlorogenic acids), which, when consumed in moderation, can help improve alertness and metabolism, although excess caffeine can cause undesirable effects in sensitive individuals. In the kitchen, espresso works well as a base for milk drinks (latte, cappuccino), desserts (affogato), sauces, marinades, baked goods, and cocktails, enhancing the flavor of chocolate and caramel. It is best to use freshly brewed espresso, and if it needs to be stored, cool it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 24–48 hours or freeze it in ice cubes for longer storage, avoiding exposure to light and prolonged storage at room temperature.
