Rose petal jam
Description
Rose petal jam is characterized by a delicate, intensely floral aroma with a hint of honey and subtle tartness; its color ranges from pale purple to pink, often with visible pieces of petals. Its taste is gently sweet, sophisticated, and exceptionally perfumed, making it an elegant addition to both sweet and savory dishes. It is most commonly served on bread, with blue and goat cheeses, as a topping for yogurt, ice cream, and desserts, for filling pastries, and as an ingredient in sauces and cocktails. Nutritionally, the jam has similar values to other jams, meaning a high content of simple sugars; however, rose petals provide antioxidants and phenolic compounds that may support overall immunity and have a soothing effect on the respiratory tract. The jam should be stored in a tightly sealed, sterile jar; an unopened jar can be kept in a cool, dark place for up to a year, and once opened, it should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 4–6 weeks.
