Fresh dill
Description
Fresh dill is a delicate, light green herb with feathery, silky leaves and thin stems. Its flavor is fresh, slightly sweet with a distinct anise note and subtle citrus freshness, which adds aroma to dishes without overpowering other ingredients. Visually, it gives dishes a lightness and an intense green accent. Dill is a source of vitamins A, C, and K, as well as minerals such as iron and calcium. It also provides fiber and antioxidants that support immunity and digestion. In the kitchen, it pairs well with fish, seafood, soups, salads, yogurt sauces, potatoes, eggs, and pickles, as well as fresh dips and dressings. It is best stored chilled in the refrigerator wrapped in a damp paper towel and placed in an airtight bag; under these conditions, it stays fresh for about a week, and for longer storage, it can be frozen chopped in ice cubes with water or oil.
