Cranberry jam
Description
Cranberry jam has an intense, slightly tart-sour taste with a distinct sweetness and a deep, ruby color, as well as a glossy consistency; it may contain whole fruits, which adds texture and aroma. It is a source of vitamin C, fiber, and polyphenols and proanthocyanidins, which have antioxidant properties and support urinary and immune system health, although due to the added sugar, it should be consumed in moderation. The jam pairs perfectly with cheeses (especially blue cheeses), roasted poultry and pork, pancakes, yogurt, or as an addition to sauces and glazes. It should be stored in tightly sealed, clean jars: unopened in a cool, dark place, and after opening in the refrigerator, to be consumed within a few weeks; for longer storage, portions can be frozen.
