Cranberry jam
Description
Cranberry jam is an intensely red, glossy mass with a distinctly sweet-and-sour taste, often featuring whole or overcooked fruits that add a pleasant, slightly grainy texture. The aroma is fresh, fruity with a delicate tartness characteristic of cranberries. Nutritionally, the jam primarily provides carbohydrates and energy, along with fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants (proanthocyanidins), which support the immune system and may promote urinary tract health; however, it is important to remember that the sugar content increases the calorie count. In the kitchen, it works great as an addition to bread, cheeses (e.g. goat, blue cheese), meats (turkey, pork), sauces, desserts, and yogurts, as well as an element in marinades and dressings. After opening, store the jam in a cool place in a tightly sealed jar, use a clean spoon, and consume within a few weeks; keep unopened jars in a dry, dark place.
