Fresh dill
Description
Fresh dill has a delicate, slightly anise-like aroma with a distinct freshness and subtle sweetness. Its thin, feathery leaves are light green and give dishes a decorative, fluffy appearance, while the stems are crunchy and aromatic. Dill is low in calories and provides vitamins A and C, B vitamins, and minerals such as calcium, iron, and potassium, as well as fiber and antioxidants. The essential oils contained in it (e.g., anethole) support digestion, relieve bloating, and have anti-inflammatory properties. In the kitchen, fresh dill pairs perfectly with fish and seafood, potatoes, salads, yogurt sauces, eggs, soups, and pickled products like cucumbers or marinades, adding freshness to dishes. To preserve its aroma, store it wrapped in a damp paper towel in an airtight container in the refrigerator or in a glass of water loosely covered with plastic wrap; it can also be frozen chopped in oil or water.
