Chicken (whole)
Description
Chicken (whole) has a delicate, slightly sweet flavor and evenly pinkish-white flesh under the browned skin, which becomes crispy when roasted. Visually, it offers a versatile shape for baking or cooking, and the proportions of meat and fat depend on the age and diet of the bird. As a source of high-quality protein, it provides B vitamins (especially B3 and B6), selenium, phosphorus, and small amounts of iron, with lower fat content when the skin is removed, supporting muscle building, metabolism, and immunity. Whole chicken is extremely versatile: it is perfect for roasting, braising, cooking in broths, and stuffing, and pairs well with herbs, citrus, and root vegetables. Store in the refrigerator for 1–2 days at a temperature of ≤4°C or freeze for 9–12 months, thaw in the refrigerator, do not leave at room temperature, and always cook to a safe internal temperature for poultry.
