Raspberries (fresh, for decoration)
Description
Raspberries have a delicate, sweet-tart flavor with a hint of floral notes and a velvety texture; their appearance consists of small, red to deep red fruits with characteristic drupelets and a hollow interior, which look beautiful as a decoration. They are low in calories, rich in fiber, vitamin C, manganese, and polyphenols and anthocyanins with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which support immunity, heart health, and glucose regulation and digestion. In the kitchen, raspberries work well both fresh as a finishing touch for desserts, salads, or yogurts, as well as in sauces, jams, cocktails, or paired with chocolate, citrus fruits, and cheeses. They should be stored unwashed in the refrigerator in a breathable container, in a single layer or on a paper towel, and consumed within 2–3 days; for longer storage, freeze them spread out on a baking sheet.
