thick coconut milk

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Thick coconut milk is a creamy, white-cream liquid with a velvety texture and a distinct sweet-nutty aroma of coconut. The taste is rich, slightly sweet with a subtle fattiness that gives dishes fullness and silkiness. Nutritionally, it is calorie-dense and rich in saturated fats (including MCT), providing energy and minerals such as manganese, copper, and magnesium; it is also an excellent plant-based alternative for those avoiding lactose, but it should be used in moderation due to its high calorie content. In the kitchen, it pairs well with curries, cream soups, sauces, desserts, smoothies, and baked goods, perfectly replacing cream in both savory and sweet dishes, as well as serving as a base for vegan sauces and drinks. Unopened, it should be stored in a dry, cool place; once opened, it is advisable to transfer it to an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator, where it usually stays fresh for 4–5 days (it can also be frozen, although the texture may change).
