Thick coconut milk is a creamy, white-cream liquid with a velvety texture and a distinct sweet-nutty aroma of coconut. The taste is rich, slightly sweet with a subtle fattiness that gives dishes fullness and silkiness. Nutritionally, it is calorie-dense and rich in saturated fats (including MCT), providing energy and minerals such as manganese, copper, and magnesium; it is also an excellent plant-based alternative for those avoiding lactose, but it should be used in moderation due to its high calorie content.
