Soy milk
Description
Soy milk is a plant-based drink with a creamy, milk-white consistency and a subtly nutty-bean flavor that absorbs spices and sweetness well. Depending on the variant, it can be more watery or thicker, naturally lactose-free and casein-free. It is a source of high-quality plant protein, lower in fat compared to cow's milk, and often fortified with calcium, vitamin D, and B12. It contains soy isoflavones, which have beneficial effects on lipid profiles and bone health when part of a balanced diet; it works well as an option for vegans, people with lactose intolerance, or allergies to cow's milk proteins. In the kitchen, soy milk is suitable for coffee, tea, cereals, smoothies, cream soups, sauces, and baked goods, effectively binding consistency and adding a mild flavor. An unopened UHT package can be stored at room temperature until the expiration date; once opened, keep it in the refrigerator and consume within 3–7 days; shake before use and pay attention to additives and sugar content.
