Cocoa nibs (optional)
Description
Cocoa nibs are roasted pieces of cocoa bean with an intense, bitter-nutty flavor and a dark brown, irregular structure with a noticeable crunch. They add depth of chocolate to dishes without added sugar and have a raw, earthy aroma with slightly caramel notes. From a nutritional standpoint, they are a concentrated source of antioxidants (flavonoids), fiber, magnesium, iron, and several phytochemicals; when consumed in moderation, they support heart health, mood improvement, and digestion, with low sugar content. They are typically used as a crunchy addition to muesli, smoothies, yogurts, cakes, and cookies, as well as a decorative element or flavor contrast in desserts and savory dishes. They should be stored in an airtight container, in a cool, dry, and dark place; for longer freshness, they can be kept in the refrigerator, avoiding moisture and strong odors.
