Nori (seaweed)

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Nori are thin sheets of dried seaweed with an intense dark green to almost black color, featuring a delicate, slightly salty and umami flavor along with a subtle marine freshness; when toasted, they become crispier and more aromatic. They are low in calories, rich in iodine, plant protein, fiber, and vitamins (A, C, E, K, B vitamins, including some forms of B12) and minerals such as iron, calcium, and magnesium, as well as antioxidants, which support thyroid function, the immune system, and overall metabolic balance with moderate consumption. Culinarily, nori pairs well with sushi, onigiri, soups, salads, snacks, and rice or noodle dishes, adding umami and texture. Store in an airtight container in a dry, cool, and dark place; once opened, it is best kept with a hermetic seal and moisture absorber or in the refrigerator to maintain crispness.
