Tomato passata / purée

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Tomato passata is a smooth, uniform puree with an intense red color and a concentrated, fresh tomato flavor with natural sweetness and pleasant acidity. It has a velvety texture, free of skins and seeds, making it a versatile flavor base. From a nutritional standpoint, it is low in calories, rich in vitamins C and A (beta-carotene), potassium, and lycopene—a powerful antioxidant that supports heart health and the immune system, as well as being beneficial for skin and vision. It also contains small amounts of fiber and virtually no fat or cholesterol. In the kitchen, passata works well as a base for tomato sauces, soups, stews, risottos, pizzas, or one-pot dishes, and pairs well with herbs, olive oil, and vegetables. It can be stored in a dry, cool place before opening; after opening, transfer it to an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator for a maximum of 3–5 days or freeze in portions for up to 3 months. Choose versions without added sugar and preservatives for the best flavor and health benefits.
