Pumpkin seeds
Description
Pumpkin seeds are small, flat, and oval; in their shell, they have a creamy color, and when shelled, they are green and shiny. They have a pleasantly nutty, slightly sweet, and earthy flavor, along with a crunchy texture that adds contrast and depth to dishes. They are a concentrated source of plant protein, healthy unsaturated fats, fiber, and minerals such as magnesium, zinc, iron, and potassium, as well as antioxidants and tryptophan. Regular consumption may support heart health, the immune system, blood sugar regulation, prostate functions, and improve sleep. In the kitchen, pumpkin seeds work well as a crunchy addition to salads, soups, muesli, and bread, in pesto, as a solo snack (raw or roasted), and as a decoration for baked goods and desserts. To maintain freshness and aroma, store them in an airtight container in a cool, dark place; for longer storage, keep them in the refrigerator or freezer.
